THE WOLVES COME, feature project in development

The story unfolds in the 70s of the 20th century. The actors of a small country theatre are having a rehearsal of a new play- about a strange case in a small village, where people start disappearing one at a time, and mysteriously wolves appear at their place.
The film shows the complex relations between art and authority in the age of socialism, the natural human desire in art to say what they think – even if it is sometimes worth dear.
That is an absurd comedy, which provokes feelings toward the characters and wish for thoughts in the audience.

NAIDEN AND GEORGI – 56’, 2009

Bulgaria holds a notorious position in Europe on account of the number of children who have been abandoned by their parents. Over the past 20 years, more than 20,000 children, mainly from Roma origin, have been left orphaned by their parents.

This film follows the lives of two such orphans - Naiden and Georgi. Georgi has been adopted by a family in Sweden, while Naiden was less fortunate, and has not even been issued a Birth Certificate. The characters are truly juxtaposed as Georgi, now a university student, who speaks several languages and plays the violin, has lead a considerably different life than Naiden, who cleans cows at a farm, lacks education, direction in life, and has already committed a number of crimes.

THE STORY OF A PHOTOGRAPHY –56’, documentary, 2009

On the 1st of May 1945, everything appears to be going well for Bulgaria – the war is coming to an end and Bulgarians along with the rest of the world are craving peace and prosperity - at least that is the impression given to viewers in the first frame of the documentary, which displays a single photograph of members of government. However, as the story develops, viewers realize that post-war reality is quite different than the happiness the photo suggests.

This documentary is the 4th and last part of the sequence ("Yearning for Things New", "How Europe Came to Bulgaria" and "The French woman of Bulgarian NCO") which documents the daily life and character of a select few ordinary Bulgarian during the period between 1850 and 1950.
